  • Granulated sugar: 300gm
  • Buttermilk: 240ml
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Baking soda: 1 teaspoon
  • Unsalted butter: 113g
  • Eggs: 2 large
  • Vanilla extract: 2 teaspoons
  • Cocoa powder: 2 tablespoons
  • White vinegar: 1 tablespoon
  • Liquid red food coloring: 1 to 2 tablespoons

Directions:

Step one: The first step in this red velvet cake recipe is to take a cream the butter, ideally on medium speed. Continue mixing on medium speed while adding sugar until frothy and light. After that, add each egg and beat it thoroughly before adding the next one.

Step two: The vanilla is then added, and then the cocoa powder is sifted into the butter mixture. Beat just until combined. To ensure that everything is thoroughly combined, scrape the bowl occasionally.

Step three: Combine the buttermilk, vinegar, and red food coloring in a measuring cup. The more you use, the vibrant the color when baked.

Step four: Next step in this red velvet cake recipe is to sift the flour, salt, and baking soda together in a medium dish. Half of the flour mixture and half of the buttermilk mixture should be added to the mixing bowl and mixed briefly while the mixer is running at low speed. Repeat with the remaining buttermilk and flour. Every so often, pause and scrape down the basin.

Step five: Distribute the mixture among six-inch baking dishes which are buttered, and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the centers spring back when touched.

Step six: In a bowl, add butter, cream cheese, vanilla, and salt to make the cream cheese frosting. Beat the ingredients thoroughly until they are frothy and smooth. The powdered sugar should be gradually added to the mixer and mixed in until well blended. Set the cup aside. Place a layer of cake on the cake stand, then top it with half a cup of frosting. Continue adding layers as necessary, and then cover the outside of the cake with the leftover frosting.

And voila! One big tasty red velvet cake. This red velvet cake recipe is as easy as that!
